Alessandra Luiselli, Associate Professor, studied her B.A. at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Her doctorate studies were completed at The University of New Mexico. Doctor Luiselli has published three books: El sueño manierista de Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz (UAEM, 1993), La instrucción del Inca Titu Cusi Yupanqui (UNAM, 2001) and Letras Mexicanas. Ensayos sobre escritores mexicanos de la segunda mitad del siglo veinte (UNAM, 2006). Professor Luiselli co-authored the well received critical anthology of Latin American literature Huellas de las literaturas hispanoamericanas (Prentice Hall-Pearson), in its third edition this year. In addition to her books, Professor Luiselli has published many refereed articles and invited book chapters in the United States, Mexico and Spain. She has traveled extensively giving lectures on Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz and other writers of the Colonial Period. Her last book, Letras Mexicanas, analyzes the influence of colonial times and postcolonial subjects on contemporary writers like Octavio Paz, Rosario Castellanos, Gustavo Sainz, Elena Poniatowska, Carmen Boullosa and Víctor Hugo Rascón Banda. Last year, Professor Luiselli received a distinguished university award because of her quality teaching supporting diversity. The Mexican American and Latino Research Center of Texas A&M University, MALRC, awarded Professor Luiselli a three year fellowship. Dr. Luiselli's research includes Hispanic Women Writers, Film Studies and Contemporary Mexican Literature.
